Dr. Mark Travers : Your Kirkland Chiropractor

My Chiropractic Story

Dr. Mark Travers, Kirkland Chiropractor

Simply put, I was a skeptic," admits Dr. Mark Travers,"but a friend of mine recommended I see his Chiropractor, Dr. Hambrick, for the headaches, neck and shoulder pain that I had been experiencing almost daily for many years after a car accident and several sport injuries.  I was reluctant because I had been to doctors and I had tried drugs and I  had tried using nutrition and Massage Therapy, but I had only limited results.  I didn't think a Chiropractor was much different then a Massage Therapist, but I was wrong."

"It was incredible," continues Dr. Travers, "I'll never forget my first adjustment.  It was like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders and I could feel the blood flow to my brain again! Dr. Hambrick combined Chiropractic adjustments with massage therapy and clinical nutrition to help me
recover quickly. That's when I decided I wanted
to be a Chiropractor.

Chiropractic Education

Dr. Travers began his education with a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1983.  In 1987, Dr. Travers graduated from the Atlanta School of Massage as a Licensed Massage Therapist.  After working for 3 years utilizing Deep Tissue Massage at a Chiropractic clinic in Atlanta, Dr. Travers entered Life Chiropractic University.  After  studying anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, diagnostics, and Chiropractic adjusting techniques for  4 years, with a 1 & 1/2 year clinical internship, Dr. Travers graduated with honors in 1994.  Then, Dr. Travers had the opportunity to be in practice with his mentor, and his first Chiropractor, in the Atlanta area until he moved to the Kirkland area in 2003 to establish his present practice and to serve the Kirkland area.

Chiropractic Philosophy

"So many people come to me as a last resort," comments Dr. Travers, "when they had no place else to turn.  I owe it to my patients to tell them the truth.  I feel compelled to be both a Doctor and a Teacher to help patients understand that our bodies were designed to be 'self-healing' and that there are many safe and effective natural treatments to help them feel better and help them improve the quality of their lives!"

"I have learned so much from my patients," smiles Dr. Travers, "it is just amazing, that after adjusting their spines and reducing the stress on their nervous system, they will often make comments like 'I am feeling much better and, actually, I am feeling better then I have in a long time - I have more energy and I even
feel younger.' "

Living the Chiropractic Lifestyle

I'm just a regular guy, not a miracle worker like some of my patients would tell you. I live in Juanita with my Australian Shepard, Misty, and I am an avid runner and hiker. I moved here to the great Northwest because I love the people and the great outdoors. I still get adjusted regularly, and I wouldn't dream of not doing that,
and I find balance in my life with exercise, nutrition, nature, photography and good friends.

Dr. Travers Asks some important questions of interest to Kirkland residents - Chiropractor Kirkland Dr. Travers Asks...

What's the purpose of a surgeon's mask?
When I ask most people in Kirkland this, most think it protects the patient from the doctor's germs. But it's so porous it does little to prevent the passage of germs. We chiropractors don't bother with masks.
Which organs are extra?
You don't have any spare parts. Sure, we can survive without our tonsils, appendix, gall bladder and several other tissues, but each serves a purpose. We chiropractors recognize this. So the chiropractic approach I use in Kirkland is to reduce nerve interferences to the control and regulation of every tissue, organ and system of your body.
